Mixing & fermentation

Blend the crushed material with 20–40% carbon sources like straw or sawdust to balance the C/N ratio around 25:1. Then pile it for aerobic composting. Temperatures reach 55–65°C for 7–15 days, killing pathogens and weed seeds. Turn the pile every 2–3 days — oxygen is critical for complete decomposition.

Pelletizing process

What’s the ideal moisture content for chicken manure before pelletizing?

That’s the 1 question we get, and for good reason — moisture makes or breaks your pellet quality. Aim for 15–20%. Any wetter and pellets come out soft and deformed; any drier and they won’t bind properly. In daily production, we recommend using a rotary drum dryer to dial in that sweet spot. Fresh manure at 25–30% simply won’t work — you’ll clog the die every time.

What’s the difference between FZLH250, FZLH320, FZLH420, etc.?

The numbers refer to ring die inner diameter in millimeters — and that directly determines capacity. FZLH250 does 1–1.5 t/h with a 22 kW motor. FZLH320 bumps to 2–3 t/h. FZLH420 hits 6–8 t/h with 90 kW. Up at FZLH678, you’re looking at 18–22 t/h with 200 kW. Choose based on your daily manure output — we always recommend going one size up if you’re planning to grow.

Do I need to ferment the manure first, or can I pelletize it fresh?

You can pelletize fresh manure, but we strongly recommend composting first. Fermentation kills pathogens and weed seeds, stabilizes nutrients, and reduces odor. It also lowers moisture from 70%+ down to a pellet-friendly range. In our experience, fermented manure produces harder, more durable pellets that store better and command higher prices. Skip fermentation, and you’re basically selling pathogen-loaded, smelly pellets.

What pellet sizes can the chicken manure pellet machine produce?

Standard range is 2–12 mm, fully customizable by swapping the ring die. Most of our customers go with 4–6 mm for field crops, 6–8 mm for vegetables and fruit trees. The smaller the diameter, the harder it is to push through — so you’ll trade some capacity for finer pellets. We keep a range of dies in stock, so switching sizes is straightforward.

How long does a ring die last with chicken manure?

That depends on your feedstock and how well you maintain it. With proper care — regular cleaning, flushing after each shift, and rotating dies — you can expect 500+ hours of production. Chicken manure is corrosive (high chlorine), so our dies use stainless steel with vacuum quenching, resulting in high hardness. We’ve seen cheaper dies fail in under 200 hours. Pay more upfront, save on replacements later.

Can I add other materials to the chicken manure?

Absolutely — in fact, we recommend it. Adding 20–40% carbon-rich materials like straw, sawdust, or rice husks balances the C/N ratio and improves pellet structure. Pure chicken manure is too dense and can overheat the die. The right mix gives you harder pellets, less dust, and better nutrient release. Some clients add 5–10% bentonite or humic acid as a binder — works great.
