What Is a Cow Dung Pellet Making Machine?

Capacity
1-26T/H

Pellet Size
2–12 mm
What is a cow dung pellet machine? It is a ring-die granulator that presses fermented, dried, and crushed manure through a die. Rollers force material into die holes; rotating cutters set pellet length. It turns low-value manure into 4–8 mm organic fertilizer pellets, often with cooling, screening, and bagging. It can also run mixed manure and straw.
Cow Dung Pellet Production
RICHI dung manure pellet making machine is used to process dung manure into organic fertilizer pellets. You can adjust molds to produce pellets of different sizes for fertilizer applications.
Why Make Cow Dung Pellets?
Why pellet cow dung? Raw manure is bulky, wet, smelly, and costly to transport. Pelleting cuts volume, stabilizes nutrients, and makes storage and spreading far easier. In our experience, pellets sell for 6–10× more than bulk manure. They also reduce methane and ammonia risk, support organic certification, and feed crops slowly for 3–6 months. For dairy farms, that means waste becomes revenue.

Fresh Cow Dung
Straight from dairy or beef farms, often 65–80% moisture; needs dewatering, drying, and fermentation before pelleting.

Composted / fermented cow dung

Composted / fermented cow dung
Partially decomposed, lower odor, more stable nutrients; ideal for organic fertilizer pellets.

Dry Cow Dung

Dry Cow Dung
Air-dried or mechanically dewatered, around 12–18% moisture; ready for pelleting with minor moisture adjustment.

Manure With Bedding

Manure With Bedding
Mixed with rice husks, sawdust, straw, wood shavings, or feed residues; very common on dairy farms.

Organic Waste

Organic Waste
Cow dung + crop residues (corn stalks, wheat straw, peanut shells, bagasse, etc.) to adjust C/N ratio.

Digestate From Biogas

Digestate From Biogas
Solid residue after anaerobic digestion; usually high in moisture and needs drying and conditioning.
How the Cow dung Pellet Making Machine Works
Watch how the machine turns wet, bulky cow dung into uniform hard fertilizer pellets.
This factory test video shows our cow dung pellet making machine under real-world running conditions.
Composted cow dung mixed with bedding or other organic waste is fed into the cow dung pellet making mill. You can clearly observe raw material feeding, pellet processing and finished organic fertilizer pellets discharging, demonstrating the whole pelletizing workflow for cattle manure recycling.
Pelletizing eliminates most odor, reduces volume for easier storage and transportation, and kills harmful pathogens by compression heat. It helps dairy and beef farms solve manure pollution while creating sellable organic fertilizer products.

We provide free factory-on-site testing for customers. Bring your cow dung samples, and we can run real tests on our cow dung pellet making machine so you can check pellet quality and machine performance before placing your order.
Main Components
When you’re evaluating a pellet mill, the real question isn’t “what’s the price?”—it’s “what’s inside?” We’ve seen too many plants struggle with cheap castings and undersized bearings. So here’s a straight look at the core parts that determine your cow dung pellet making machine’s reliability, output, and die life.

01
Ring Die
Hardened alloy-steel ring die; 4–8 mm holes, 1:6–1:8 compression for fibrous cow dung.

02
Pressure Rollers
Wear-resistant rollers with external gap adjustment; water cooling keeps bearings stable under heavy load.

03
Cutting Device
Twin cutters adjust pellet length quickly—less labor, more uniform 4–8 mm fertilizer pellets.

04
Feeding Device
Variable-frequency feeder and anti-bridging hopper ensure steady flow, even for wet, sticky manure.

05
Gear Transmission
Gear transmission, brand bearings, and safety pins protect the main shaft during overload.

06
Motor & Control
High-torque main motor, PLC options, and safety interlocks keep production stable and operators safe.

Cow Dung Pellet Production Steps
A complete cow dung pellet line is more than one cow dung cake machine. Based on your raw material and final product, the process usually includes these steps.
Raw Material Pretreatment
01
Fresh cow dung often comes with 65–80% moisture, plus stones, sand, and metal bits. First, dewater it with a screw press or dryer. Then remove impurities using screens and magnets. Finally, crush to ≤5 mm. This prep protects your pellet machine and keeps production steady.

02
Mixing & Fermentation
Mix cow dung with straw, sawdust, or rice husk to adjust C/N to 25–40:1. Build windrows or use forced aeration. Keep 55–65°C for at least 15 days, turning every 2–3 days. Mature compost turns dark, loose, and odor-free—a key step for stable fertilizer pellets.

Pelletizing Process
03
Feed the prepared mix into the cow dung cakes making machine. Rollers press material through die holes at 60–75°C—key for density. For fibrous cow dung, use a 1:6–1:8 compression ratio—not higher, or the die may block. Twin cutters control pellet length. Aim for 4–8 mm.

04
Drying Process
Fresh pellets leave the machine with 15–20% moisture and feel soft. Use a rotary or belt dryer at 80–120°C. Dry them down to ≤12–15%—otherwise mold and spoilage soon follow. In daily production, control temperature really carefully to avoid the surface hardening and keep quality.

Cooling Process
05
In our experience, hot pellets from the dryer must cool to room temperature. A counter-flow cooler pulls ambient air through the pellet bed. This stabilizes temperature and hardness, cuts moisture condensation, and prevents the spoilage during bagging. Cool to within 3–5°C of good room temperature.

06
screening & packaging
Use a vibrating screen to separate finished pellets from fines and oversize. Fines return to the pellet machine; oversize can be crushed again. Then bag pellets in 25 kg or ton bags with an automatic weighing and sealing machine. Store in a dry, ventilated warehouse.
