Below are some common pellet making lines on the market. Each of RICHI’s line configuration follows specific engineering parameters — die specification, conditioning requirements, motor selection, and downstream processing — determined by properties of the feedstock and the intended end-use application.
Poultry & Livestock Feed pelleting line
Processes corn, soybean meal, wheat, and bran into compound feed pellets for broilers, layers, swine, and cattle. SZLH series pellet mills with stainless steel dies and steam conditioning systems. Pellet diameters range from 1.5mm to 12mm. Compression ratios: 1:3.5–1:13 depending on species and growth stage.
Aquatic Feed pelleting line
Produces floating, slow-sinking, and sinking pellets for fish and shrimp. Twin-screw extruders with fully intermeshing, zero-clearance screw elements handle high-oil, high-moisture formulations. In-line drying, oil coating, and cooling stages integrated. The finished granules have a water stability of over 12 hours.
Wood Fuel Pellet Production Line
Converts sawdust, wood chips, bark, and forestry residues into dense fuel pellets for industrial and residential heating. MZLH series mills with 8-pole motors (low RPM, high torque) and 42CrMo alloy dies. No conditioner required. Process includes drying, grinding, pelleting, cooling, and screening.
Straw & Forage Feed pelleting line
Processes crop residues — corn stover, wheat straw, rice husks, and alfalfa — into ruminant feed pellets. CZLH series mills with conditioner and forced-feed systems to handle high fibrous materials. Larger hoppers and slower feed are provided. The final output varies with fiber content and moisture levels.
Organic Fertilizer pelleting line
Processes fermented animal manure (cattle, poultry, swine), compost, and sludge. Low-compression dies (1:4–1:8) with forced-feed systems handle wet, sticky, high-moisture inputs (30–40% post-fermentation). Integrated drying section reduces moisture to 12–15% for storage stability.
Cat Litter pelleting line
Produces litter pellets from bentonite clay, tofu residue, wood shavings, and recycled paper. SZLH series with conditioner for wet-mix formulations (bentonite, tofu); MZLH series without conditioner for dry inputs (wood, paper). Drying and screening sections integrated. Pellet diameters: 2–12mm.

Raw material processing
Start with receiving and cleaning. A drum screener removes stones and debris, while a permanent magnet catches tramp iron—protecting your downstream machines from damage. Then it’s off to the hammer mill. Getting the grind right (3–5mm for wood, finer for feed) directly affects pellet hardness and die life.
Pelleting & Extruding
Two forming routes: ring-die pelleting and extrusion. The pellet mill—using rollers and a die—compresses conditioned mash into dense, sinking pellets. The expander, applying high shear and heat, cooks the mix and expands it on discharge—for floating fish feed and pet foods.
Finished Pellet Processing
Fresh pellets discharged at high temperature must be cooled in a counterflow cooler to near-ambient conditions, preventing cracking and moisture migration. A crumbler is optional for poultry or shrimp feeds, followed by a vibrating screen to separate fines from finished pellets, thus lowering dust content.
Auxiliary Equipment
Conveyors, dust collectors, boilers, and control panels ensure continuous operation. Bucket elevators and screw conveyors move material vertically and horizontally. Pulse-jet filters remove dust, while the boiler supplies steam. A centralized PLC panel monitors and adjusts all critical process parameters.

Signed July 22, 2023 at $115,290, this 20-day installed ring die unit fits a family factory in southern Italy. After years of trial planning, the client switched raw materials to waste paper for lower daily production costs.
