Three-Layer Stainless Steel Conditioner

Custom-built for deep starch gelatinization during shrimp feed production, this conditioner supports optional upgrade to a DDC twin-shaft differential conditioner. Forged paddles on the central main shaft continuously mix raw materials with saturated dry steam for uniform heat exchange.

Fully gelatinizes within feed ingredients greatly boost pellet water stability and nutrient digestibility. It also inhibits harmful microbes such as Vibrio, enabling finished feeds to meet international aquafeed hygiene specifications.

High Compression Ratio Ring Die

Crafted from high-grade stainless steel, this ring die boasts a compression ratio of 1:20 to 1:25 with standard hole diameters ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 mm, perfectly suited for manufacturing fine-sized shrimp feed pellets.

The flared opening and the stepped release hole of the ring die contribute to smooth feeding and friction reduction. It’s worth mentioning that post-production carburizing heat treatment upgrades the die’s wear resistance and extends its service life under long-duration pelleting.

Cutting Blade & Post-Conditioner

Thin flat cutting blades rotate closely against the ring die’s outer surface to slice pellets neatly from the base. The finished pellets feature burr-free cuts with an extremely low percentage of fine powder.

Matching post-processing equipment is installed downstream of the discharge outlet. Pellets further gelatinize surface starch, lifting water stability. The pellets retain intact structural integrity after prolonged submersion in seawater, making them ideal for shrimp aquaculture.

The finished pellets remain structurally stable in seawater without loosening or collapsing, even during continuous shrimp biting. High Gelatinization Rate

The supporting triple-layer conditioner fully processes raw materials under constant steam temperatures of 90–110℃, pushing the starch gelatinization rate beyond 90%. The post-conditioner continues constant heat preservation to completely decompose various anti-nutritional factors in feed.

It accelerates digestion and nutrient absorption for shrimp, significantly reduces the feed conversion ratio, and achieves more prominent weight gain effects with the same feeding dosage, bringing higher economic benefits for farmers.

Low Blockage Rate

To meet the production demand of ultra-fine 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm shrimp feed pellets, the mill supports 6-pole or 8-pole low-speed high-torque motors with 37–250 kW power, providing over twice the torque of conventional 4-pole motors. The VFD soft-start system prevents instantaneous equipment overload.

Meanwhile, the scientifically optimized ring die structure reduces blockage failures and cleaning downtime, ensuring stable continuous operation and greatly improving the daily production throughput of fine shrimp feed.

Grinding

Raw materials including fish meal, soybean meal and flour undergo pre-crushing via drop-type hammer mill before ultrafine pulverization. Air classification delivers 80–90 mesh fines; oversize coarse stock is recycled for regrinding while qualified powder flows downstream.

Mixing

We deliver pre‑ground raw materials to surge bins to blend them with vitamin, mineral and medicinal premixes for secondary formulation. A single-shaft paddle mixer blends for 2–3min; water and fat are permitted with fat dosage strictly limited under 8% for wet blending.

Pelleting

The mixed mash is conditioned in a triple-layer and dual differential conditioner (DDC) with extended steam residence time. This prolonged conditioning could maximize starch gelatinization and protein softening, which significantly improves pellet binding and durability.

Cooling

Fresh hot pellets (90–100℃) are kept in the post-curer for 20–30 minutes to significantly boost water resistance for over 12 hours. After counterflow ambient cooling, a dedicated shrimp feed crumbler then breaks the pellets into target sizes from 0.3 mm to 1.2 mm.

Sifting

The post-cooked pellets are cooled and then screened through a square plansifter with multiple decks and fine mesh screens. This machine ensures only uniform-sized pellets proceed to packaging, while rejects are returned for re-grinding to maximize yield.

Bagging

Why is a three-layer conditioner used in shrimp feed production?

Shrimp feed requires extremely high gelatinization, which ordinary single-layer conditioners cannot achieve. Three-layer conditioners can achieve over 90% starch gelatinization, effectively eliminating harmful vibrio and softening the feedstock. For high-performance production lines, a dual-axis differential speed conditioner (DDC) can be added for even better conditioning results.

Why adopt ring dies with high compression ratio for shrimp feed?

Shrimp pellets require superb water stability of over 12 hours, needing dense compaction via 1:20~1:25 dies, much higher than livestock & fish feed dies. The trade-off for this high compression ratio is reduced yield and increased power consumption, but it is crucial for the quality of shrimp feed. When selecting: a ratio of 1:20 can be used for large-diameter shrimp feed (1.5-2.0mm), and a ratio of 1:24 is required for small-diameter feed (1.0-1.2mm).

Why is ultrafine grinding necessary for shrimp feed lines?

Shrimp have a simple digestive system, requiring extremely fine feed. Ordinary grinders can only grind to about 30 mesh, resulting in rough particle surfaces. Ultrafine grinders, relying on airflow and grading wheels, can grind materials to 80-90 mesh, as fine as flour.This allows for thorough mixing of the material with steam, producing smooth feed particles and improving the shrimp’s digestibility and absorption rate.

Why are thin flat blades used for shrimp feed cutting?

The cutter for ordinary livestock feed is relatively thick, relying on “bumping” to break the pellets, resulting in burrs on the cut. The cutter for shrimp feed is an extremely thin, flat blade that rotates close to the outer wall of the ring die, smoothly “slicing” the pellets off along the bottom, resulting in a smooth cut without burrs. Smooth-cut pellets protect shrimp gills, deliver attractive appearance and effectively reduce water pollution caused by leftover fine dust.

How does post-curer improve finished shrimp feed quality?

The post-curing unit is standard equipment in high-grade shrimp feed production lines. It helps to gelatinize the starch on the surface of the particles, lifting water resistance above 12h and removes extra surface moisture to ease later cooling work. If you have a limited budget, you can skip this step, but the pelleting quality may decrease.
