Cow Dung Pellet Production Line

Why pelletize cow dung?
Cow manure is bulky, wet, and fibrous — standard pelletizers choke on it. Our line doesn’t. Designed specifically for cattle dung, from dairy to beef to yak.

A single adult cow produces over 30 kg of manure per day, and a medium-sized cattle farm generates several tons daily. Traditional disposal methods create major headaches: stockpiling emits foul odors, occupies massive land space, and carries parasite eggs when directly returned to farmland. After pelleting, cattle manure is formed into solid cylindrical pellets that can be sold as biomass fuel or organic fertilizer for extra revenue.

Full Cow Dung Pellet Production Process
The cow dung pellet production line can process cow dung into both fuel pellets and organic fertilizer pellets. Fuel pellets skip fermentation — just dry and press. Fertilizer pellets take the longer route: compost first, then pelletize. Either way, what was a disposal problem becomes a product people pay for.
Organic Fertilizer Pellets

01
Material Pretreatment
Fresh cow dung goes through solid-liquid separation, then a screw press dehydrator cuts moisture from 75–85% down to 55–60%. The separated liquid is collected separately for other uses.
02
Fermentation
Windrow turner or trough system — 55–65°C for 7–10 days. Kills pathogens, breaks down organics, eliminates odor. Essential before any fertilizer pelleting.
03
Crushing & Mixing
Twin-shaft or vertical crusher reduces composted lumps to 3–5 mm. Then a twin-shaft mixer blends in NPK, micronutrients, or microbial agents — evenly, every batch.
04
Pelletizing
Lower compression ratio than fuel — fertilizer needs to break down in soil. Our cow dung pelletizer handles 30–35% moisture without clogging or jamming.
05
Cooling & Coating
Three-channel drum or belt dryer pulls moisture from 20–25% down to ≤12%. Cooler drops temperature to ambient. Optional coating (mineral or vegetable oil) with <3% uniformity error.
06
Screening & Packaging
Vibrating screen removes fines and sends them back for re-pelletizing. Automatic bagging system — 5 kg to 1 ton options. Stack, store, ship. Ready for fields or export containers.

Fuel Pellets

01
Material Pretreatment
Fresh manure runs 75–85% moisture — too wet to process. Solid-liquid separator drops it to ~60%. Then several days of air-drying bring it down to 40–50%. Some clients blend in straw or sawdust here to boost calorific value.
02
Crushing
Air-dried manure forms hard clumps that must be pulverized before pelleting. Hammer mills are used with screen apertures selected based on target pellet specifications.
03
Drying
Crushed manure enters a rotary drum dryer with hot air to reduce moisture to 15%–20%. Heat sources include biomass hot blast stoves (burning straw/shavings) or factory waste heat.
04
Pelletizing
Dried powder goes into our dedicated cattle manure pellet mill. Thickened wear-resistant ring dies and reinforced rollers — built specifically for the sticky, fibrous nature of cattle dung.
05
Cooling
Fresh pellets come out hot and soft (70–90°C). A counterflow cooler drops them to ambient temperature and removes residual moisture. Hardens them up for storage and transport.
06
Screening & Packaging
Vibrating screen separates fines and broken pieces — they go back for re-pelleting. Automatic scale bags them: 25 kg small bags or jumbo ton bags. Inner liners keep moisture out.

Core Advantages of This Production Line
Cattle-manure-specialized Design: Standard wood/straw lines cannot handle high-moisture, coarse, sticky manure; every section from solid-liquid separation to pelleting is customized.
Heavy-duty Pretreatment System: Solid-liquid separators cut raw moisture below 60% to reduce dryer load and energy costs.
Optional Fermentation System: Compost turners and maturation zones available for organic fertilizer production, completing full fermentation within 7–10 days.
Dual-purpose Flexibility: Adjust process configurations to produce either fuel or fertilizer pellets on the same cow dung pellet production line.
Wear-resistant Pelleting Assembly: Thickened alloy steel ring dies withstand heavy abrasion from coarse manure fibers.
Full Turnkey Service: Complete project support from layout design to on-site installation and commissioning.
Why collaborate with RICHI?
RICHI has nearly 30 years of experience manufacturing biomass and organic fertilizer equipment and has delivered numerous cow dung pellet production line projects. Compared with wood shavings and straw, cattle dung features extremely high moisture, coarse fibers and strong stickiness. Therefore, we provide dedicated ring dies, reinforced rollers, and forced feeding that handles the fiber without clogging. Fuel pellets for boilers. Fertilizer pellets for fields.
